Happy New Financial Year

Welcome to the new financial year! We hope 2016/17 was a successful year for you and that 2017/18 will be an even bigger success!

We are already busy taking appointments and seeing many clients for the preparation and lodgement of their 2017 personal income tax returns. We would like to remind you of our extended trading hours in July and August. Our trading hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. During the period Monday 17 July 2017 to Friday 1 September 2017, we will be open for extended appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the last appointment at 6:30pm. Limited appointments for personal tax returns will be available on Saturday 12 August 2017 (by appointment only). Please contact our office to make your appointment as soon as possible.

Kicking off our July newsletter is an article that looks at the new simplified Business Activity Statements for small businesses.

28 July - Due date for businesses in the building and construction industry to lodge the taxable payments annual report

28 July - Due date to pay superannuation guarantee for employees for the period 1 April 2017 to 30 June 2017

Simpler Business Activity Statement (BAS) for small businesses

A simpler BAS will become the default GST reporting method for all small businesses from 1 July 2017. This measure was originally announced in the 2016/17 Federal Budget.
